What Jobflow Is Developing Next Based On User Feedback

Thank you for being part of our growing Jobflow community which has new users in 94 different countries globally in the past month!  It’s been fulfilling developing tools that help you more quickly and successfully land interviews and jobs, by elevating your resumes and cover letters for applications.

I promised to share what we’re developing next as a result of your feedback.  First, let me give you a quick overview of what is already underway and due for release in the coming weeks.

Right now, you are using our simple web application without creating an account. That means we aren’t saving your resume nor giving you anywhere to log in to manage your details, which also means you have to upload your resume every time you want to tailor it for another job. We’ll be improving this for you.  You’ll be creating an account where we will first optimize your master resume to keep on file, and we’ll then be tailoring that version to specific jobs (upload it once and never again!).  Every time you show us a job for which you’d like an optimized resume, we’ll save the job details, your new resume and cover letter, and make them available on your personalized dashboard.  You can download them and also refer back to the saved job details which will come in handy when you are called for an interview.  Your account will look something like this:

We’ll also be giving you access to our browser extension, which means you can get a new tailored resume and cover letter while you are browsing sites like Indeed, LinkedIn, or the employer’s career site.  While viewing a job opportunity you like, simply click a button on your browser and we’ll provide you a tailored resume and cover letter right there, and it will also be saved to your account dashboard. Want to apply to 10 jobs? Click and add them to your Jobflow queue from your browser and we’ll give you 10 different tailored resumes and cover letters without you leaving the job site of your choice.  Remember, we’ll already have your master-optimized resume, so no need to upload anything for us to do this work for you.

Jobflow's browser extension is the perfect complement to ‘easy apply’ solutions many of you are using, so you no longer have to choose between speed and quality. You can now have higher-quality resumes to quickly submit without taking time out to customize them yourself.

Finally, all job details, along with your corresponding resumes and cover letters, will be saved to a kanban-style project management board in your account.  This will allow you to organize and better manage your job search by tracking each application according to where it is in the process. Or, click the job 'card' to see the job description and view or edit your tailored resume and cover letter.

Many of you have applied to dozens and dozens of jobs and are resorting to saving and tracking all these details with status updates in spreadsheets, in your email, or not at all.  We believe this will be a good way to help you manage everything for your job search.

Now, to discuss the specific pain points and features that you requested, aside from the above.

1) The most discussed feature so far has been about formatting - you simply want more and better formatting options for your resume. We’re addressing this by giving you the ability to edit all the text and each resume section within the web application, even before you click to download the editable version of your resume.  We’re also developing more standard formatting options so you can click on a style to see how your resume will look in that output. We still advise a simple, one-column format as the way to go in most cases because it’s easily parsed by Applicant Tracking Systems, but we understand you want some creative options or want to move entire sections of your resume.  For instance, if you are early in your career, perhaps you want to lead with your Education or Skills at the top instead of including them at the end like our standard format.

Interestingly, we’ve received lots of feedback on how to perform cold outreach to the recruiter or hiring manager who posted a particular job. If you haven’t heard anything back on your application or simply want to have another touchpoint with a hiring manager after you’ve submitted your application, we’re going to provide you with a personalized message.  This will be an elevator pitch that you can send via email, via LinkedIn InMail, or as a message that accompanies your connection request.  The personalized message will also be saved with your application materials and available on your dashboard.

Finally, you’ve asked for advice and tips on everything from more ways to optimize your resume and improve your language, recommendations on what to edit down when you know your resume is too long, how to prepare for specific interviews, and a variety of job search-related questions. To help address these and the hundreds of other questions you might have during your job search, we’re developing our own chatbot that will be available in your account dashboard to answer anything and everything for you.  On a related note, I like the name Flowai as the persona for our chatbot, but would love to hear your suggestions.  If we receive enough, we'll put it to a vote! Here is a mockup of Flowai:

I hope you find everything we're building for you to be of real value. We want Jobflow, with its full suite of AI-powered tools, to be the last job search tool you need.
